A 5-bedroom house on sinola, kept the old way — by hand, slowly, with care.

The house was built in 2019 for a family that came up from Delhi for the summers and never quite went back.

The keeper, Devendra Rawat, has been with the house for eleven years. He knows where the morning light falls. He knows which window to open for the breeze in May, and which to keep shut in July. He brings the tea at six.

The valley begins at the gate. The road into Rajpur is ten minutes; the Sahastradhara stream, twenty. Mussoorie, on a clear evening, looks like a string of fireflies along the ridge above.
